It seems as if community is our focus for the start of the term. There have been so many opportunities already for our community to build links with the College with parent coffee mornings, a BBQ dinner and an afternoon tea, parent information sessions, the official opening of the Busselton playground, student volunteers at the IGA centre and the first P&F event – the Great Summer Picnic. And then next week there are two swimming carnivals (parents welcome!) and the Senior Ball. Interestingly, rather than being a distraction from learning, a rich and engaging environment is a support for positive learning outcomes. One parent commented last week that his daughter is happy at school and her achievement is improving noticeably already!
You’ll always be able to find information about our events in our newsletter, but there’s also in-the-moment photos and stories on our Facebook page. We would love it if our parents with Facebook would “check in” at the College, at events or even just at pick up time, to help get our message about the fantastic things that happen at Cornerstone out to the community. Enjoy the stories that are included in this issue.
