Responsible Discipleship

Here at Cornerstone Christian College, we have a central purpose to provide transformative Christian Education. That can sound like a lot of big words that are hard to unpack, but it’s not that complicated.

In the book ‘Transformational Education’, produced by Mount Evelyn Christian School, the writers state the following:

‘Learning at this school has a clear purpose…..that schooling is for responsible discipleship. As students engage with God’s world and word, they are encouraged to respond with wisdom and knowledge, with discernment and creativity, with playfulness and perseverance, with love and compassion. Responsive discipleship in the education setting is characterised by unwrapping God’s gifts, sharing each other’s burdens and working for peace’.

We are a missional school, as well as a supportive disciplining school. Our intent is to share the hope of the Christian message with each student we have, and to provide support to those who have already embraced this truth. It is our desire for every child, Christian or not, to develop the character and values that are evidenced in Jesus.

Sometimes that takes a lot of effort for students and staff alike. Sometimes the journey may seem complicated and messy, but through it all, is the intent to behave as Jesus would, to encourage character development that is rooted in his love, and to prepare each child to eventually graduate from the College with the ability to navigate through life wisely in an independent manner.

This is called responsible discipleship.

Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

God Bless
