The School Education Act 1999 requires compulsory aged students (PP – Year 12), as defined in the Act, to attend school, or participate in an educational program of a school, on the days on which the school is open for instruction unless an arrangement in writing has been entered into for a student.
Although there is no legal requirement in the School Education Act 1999 for pre-compulsory aged students to enrol (Kindergarten), there is an expectation that once enrolled, students will attend on a regular basis and positive attendance patterns should be fostered in students. The Education Act now states that Pre-Primary is the first formal year of schooling and is compulsory.

NB: All students should be on the school site by 8.35am each morning when the 2 minute warning siren sounds at 8:38am.
Parents are requested to notify the College between 8.20am and 9.00am on the morning of absence. Call 9754 1144 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively you can send through an absentee notice by using the form below.
Students are only permitted to leave the College grounds during the day if they are signed out by parents or have a note signed by parents giving a valid reason. If students return the same day, they must report to the front office to be signed in by the administration staff.
Informing the College of Past or Impending Absences
The caregiver should always provide a reason for their child’s absence. If the absence is for one (1) day only then a verbal reason is acceptable, although a written reason (handwritten note or email) is preferred. Email is considered the best means of notification and is to be delivered to the office, not your class teacher. Parents of Kindy and Pre-Primary students must let their class teacher know.
For absences longer than two (2) or more days a written note, stating the reason for the absence, is the only form that will be accepted. If the reason is sickness, caregivers are expected to provide a Doctor’s Certificate (for 3 days or more).
As part of the College’s ability to fulfill regulatory requirements by the Federal Government, the College is required to tighten up absence reasons for students.
If your child will be absent from school for the purposes of holidays, travel, participation in State, National or International Sporting events, you are now required to submit an application ahead of the absence. The Leave of Absence Application form can be found here.

Following Up Unexplained Absences
If a student is absent from school, and there has been no notification of the absence, the following procedure will apply;
1. Bulk SMS sent to caregivers prior to 9:30am requesting an immediate response.
2. If no response then administration staff will continue trying to ascertain the student’s whereabouts and safety via the following order of contact;
a. Primary caregiver’s; mobile phone, home phone, work phone
b. Other caregiver’s; mobile phone, home phone, work phone
c. Other siblings at school (if available), friends etc
d. Emergency contact’s phone
3. A follow-up email/letter will sent to the caregiver at the end of the week requesting written explanation for absence.
