Whatever you do!
At this time of year there is a lot of talk about endings. The Year 12 students finish at Cornerstone in a week’s time, Primary students are starting to work on their end of year items and teachers are preparing for grading and reporting! A discussion with a student last week highlighted a great attitude to this time of year – finishing well. We were talking about future plans and what next year might look like, but she said there were so many things that she wanted to focus on this term and to finish them to the best of her ability.
In our busyness it is possible to miss those more immediate tasks, thinking they are in the way of where we are going. But it is in those occurrences right in front of us that our human interactions exist. Completing a task with diligence or investing all our attention in the job at hand is where people are honored and character is displayed. There’s a saying that fits here: “Excellence honors God and inspires people”. So as we finish this year well, with all of its complexity and variety, we can remember the purpose for our daily activities and also the people around us that we influence.
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” 1 Cor 10:31
