Part of Something Bigger
There are occasions that remind you that you are part of something bigger than yourself. Last week some of our staff had the opportunity to join with Grace Christian School for a day of professional learning. The content of the two morning sessions was very inspiring, brought to us by Dr Brian Harris, Principal of Vose Seminary in Perth. The afternoon provided time to work together in teams of year group or learning area to share approaches and build collegiality between the two schools. The day was very valuable and, for many of us, lifted our eyes above the focus of our individual situations. We often don’t realise it, but our staff have a variety of these opportunities as we access our association of independent schools, professional associations, moderation partnerships or even relationships with staff we have worked with in the past.
At a personal level it is important to realise that there is often a need to lift our eyes above our own situations. Sometimes that is to reach out for help and sometimes to offer it. We can also simply need to take stock. It is encouraging to know that, like our staff, we have resources around us; in our families, in our school, in our churches and in our community. We are part of something bigger.
So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Romans 12:5
