Let Your Light Shine

The latest COGGs (celebration of God’s goodness) assembly held by Secondary students had the focus of “Legacy”. You’ll find stories and photos further into this issue, but at COGGs I spoke about two initiatives in the College that fit the theme perfectly. One is the new Certificate of Completion that Secondary students will receive when they complete 20 hours of volunteer work. This will be presented to students in House periods, without fanfare, to help our students record how they have volunteered in our community.

The other initiative is something being launched by Amy Taylor, working as a chaplain in the College this semester. It is a simple game of kindness bingo that Primary and Secondary students can play as they record their ‘kind acts’ on a bingo sheet. This is another way that positive behaviour is encouraged and discussed at the College.

These are such powerful ways to highlight the legacy that our students leave. How we impact those around us speaks of our character and is one of the wonderful aspects of the College that we enjoy.

“… let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” Matthew 5:16
