Leap of Faith
The Year 12 students at Cornerstone Christian College were seen leaping off cliff-faces in the past week – but safely of course! The Cliffs at Willyabrup were the location on a beautiful summers day to put courage to the test.
As part of the pastoral care program of our senior students, several days of activities are scheduled over the course of the year, with the aim of building into our Year 12s skills and techniques that will aid in their successful navigation of their final year of school. Practical topics like study methods as well as the means to find balance in life are key outcomes, but having students see they can achieve greater outcomes than they believe are possible are at the root of this first event of the year.
Team work, facing fears, finding balance in life and trying new challenges were on the agenda for the abseiling component of these ‘Survive and Shine’ events.
Staff consider the best means of delivering this kind of learning to the Year 12’s- and the result is that these events are wholeheartedly embraced by the students.
The academic outcomes of Cornerstone students over the past few years have outshone many other local schools, and the pastoral care element of what a senior student at Cornerstone will be immersed in is certain to be a significant part of this.
