The first Primary assembly was held this week, presented so ably by Mr Meyerink and his Year 6 students. It was a full program with singing, awards and an excellent drama. It was a full building with so many parents attending…and it was also a full stage at one point! Ms Nolan and I realized we needed to stand more to one side – so many students were being acknowledged for the positive start to their learning this year. The delight on the faces of the other students as each award recipient was read out is a testimony to the character of our students. Developing character is a focus of the College and it is especially pleasing when good character is displayed so naturally.
A high point in the proceedings was the announcement of the Primary House Captains, and the Year 6 students were certainly excited! It was highlighted that they were to model servant leadership as Jesus did. When it says in the gospels that Jesus didn’t come to be served but to serve, it sets a great example for all of us as we live together in community. I look forward to seeing how these students serve each other and their school in the coming weeks.
PS – If you haven’t seen them already, I recommend checking out the photos of the assembly on our Facebook page!
