Over 230 staff and students at Cornerstone Christian College came together, in an event entirely planned and run by the Primary House Captains, to raise funds for the victims of the April 25 Nepal Earthquake that claimed the lives of over 8000 people.

Elijah French and Noah McGuinness explained how many of the students in class were stirred to do something to help the victims of the earthquake, while hearing about it during a morning devotion. “We were praying for the victims and just wanted to do something for them”

Following an initial class discussion, the House Captains decided to take up the challenge to come up with a fundraiser, which resulted in a hugely successful Lapathon that raised a total of $3755.50. The money will be used to help rebuild a village in Nepal through Youth with a Mission, a global mission’s organisation.

In support of the event, primary students and staff walked/ran a staggering combined total of over 10100 laps (1lap=200m) equivalent to a distance of over 2000km.

When asked about the success of the day there was a visible excitement among the House Captains. “Everyone got really involved” Josie Black commented.

The House Captains responsible for the event are;
Dylan Williams, Jeremy Hayes, Emily Kerr, Jodi Van Niekerk, Josie Black, Brylee Meyerink, Elijah French and Noah McGuinness
